Since 2015 I have been working towards a Bernie Sanders presidency, and this year that meant 80 hours a week organizing from the Bernie 2020 Colorado Headquarters where I became known as the volunteer coordinator. Through hosting 57 phonebanks, I was able to train hundreds of people to make recruitment, persuasive, and GOTV phone calls. In a final push before polls closed, I organized more than 80 people to flood the Auraria campus and get the students out to vote.

After fifteen years in the service industry, from manager to server, line cook to dishwasher, I was forced to leave so that I could get access to health insurance. So many years without had led to major depression and problems with substance abuse. At age 34, to save myself and my twelve year old son, I moved in with my mom and stepdad. It took many tears, relapses, and finally immense courage for me to deal with the pain and trauma that I had been bottling up since I was a teenager. I am slowly remembering the things that once brought me joy, and joining my fellow Coloradoans in fighting for a Bernie Sanders presidency has been a huge part of my journey. The "Not Me, Us" mantra has been a powerful reminder that to be part of a collective, one must be whole themselves. I must remember to embody the changes that I desire in the world. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and the reasons why becoming a delegate would mean a tremendous amount.
